Why I Don't Start Again Tomorrow

There are some things in life that take a while to reset.  When my spending takes me to the end of my earning I need to stop spending and wait until my next paycheck to reset.  When I'm tired at the end of the day I need to sleep for hours to reset my energy level.  When I start working out it takes days to reset my muscles for this kind of torture , I mean conditioning. When my computer gets slow sometimes I need to reset it by turning it off and then restarting it.

And then there the good things that I want to do, but because I don't think I can make it happen for the full day I'm tempted to start it tomorrow.

I'm learning that in the Christian walk of truth and grace this is not how God wants me to live.

God says that, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  (1 John 1:9 NIV)

This means that I can reset again at any time.  This means that I don't have to wait for perfect conditions to start.  I just need to start.  And confess my sin when I blow it and allow God to reset His truth and grace in my life through forgiveness and cleansing.

I want to live this way.

I'm learning not to be ashamed of my imperfect life.  I'm learning to trust that God's Word is true and can be applied and lived out daily, even moment by moment.

Rumors

When rumors are good we want to rejoice.  When rumors are bad we sometimes listen more carefully.

When we pass along rumors we sometimes feel good because we are in the know.

When we find out that rumors are spread about us...well, that's a whole different story.

“A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.”
Proverbs 16:28 NLT
